Delivering luggage in cooperation with elevators
(NEDO demonstration)
As a project operator of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) , a national research and development corporation, we conducted an indoor delivery demonstration experiment using an elevator cooperation system with an automated navigating robot.
TOKYU LAND CORPORATION , which manages Tokyo Portcity Takeshiba Office Tower , has introduced Mitsubishi Electric Building Solutions' smart city building IoT platform "Ville-feuille." Using the platform's function via SoftBank LTE line, robots can connect with almost all the elevators to freely move within the building. (Other robots can also use the platform which demonstrated success)
The robot "Cuboid," used in this experiment, has a track record in the 2019 Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications demonstration project.
Information
Tokyo Portcity Takeshiba Office Tower Logistics Overview and Demonstration Contents
SAGAWA EXPRESS CO., LTD. handles the logistics of the Tokyo Portcity Takeshiba Office Tower. (Packages from other delivery companies are received once on the first basement floor and then handled by SAGAWA EXPRESS CO., LTD.)
In the office floor where SoftBank and group companies are located, SAGAWA EXPRESS CO., LTD. and SoftBank's employee support department cooperate, with SoftBank sorting the packages on the intermediate floor and SAGAWA EXPRESS CO., LTD. delivering them to each floor and department.
We conducted a demonstration of delivering actual packages from the intermediate base to the Chief Scientist Office room using delivery robots and a communication system to the recipient, with the aim of incorporating it into actual delivery operations.
Barcode-based delivery instructions and notification system
With advice from SAGAWA EXPRESS CO., LTD. , we have developed a barcode-based delivery instruction prototype and notification system for this demonstration.
